On April 9, 2022, at 7 pm, the Northeast Texas Community College Rodeo will host its first annual Rodeo alumni dinner. The event will occur at the Mount Pleasant Rodeo Arena Becky & Buddy McCollom Events Center & Pavilion. The intent is to bring back some alumni, mixed with students and parents. This event is open to the public with the proceeds going toward scholarships for NTCC rodeo students.
The ticket prices are $50 each, covering the meal and entertainment. Special guest Cole Scroggins will be playing a three-hour live set, and there will be an opportunity to dance. The dinner will be catered barbeque. There will be a silent and regular auction for the public to participate in during the evening. A non-hosted cash bar will be at the event. Social hour will begin at 6 p.m. on the evening of the event. There are roughly 250 tickets with the expectation of them going fast. They will go on sale on March 1, 2022.
Justin Hampton, NTCC head rodeo coach, conducted a similar event at his previous program.
“We are trying to raise funds for the scholarships to encourage students to continue to come to NTCC and help other elements of the rodeo program,” Hampton said.
Kent Sheldon, NTCC team roper and bronc rider, said the event is a chance to thank the community that has helped support the program.
“Places like Priefert, Smarty, and Diamond C have given a lot,” Sheldon said. “It’s a way to give back to them, have a few drinks since they have helped us out so much.”
Tickets can be purchased from Justin Hampton at 903-434-8274.
