Love filled the air in the spirit of Valentine’s day during Northeast Texas Community College’s recent Love In The SUB event.

All types of love were celebrated in the Student Union Building ranging from self-love, love of community and romantic  and platonic love.

JaQuacy Minter, director of Student Development, alongside his SGA student members decided to try something different for this year’s Love In The SUB event.

SGA members participate in the holiday fun in a break from running the event.

Shawna Green, owner of Pick-n-Paint in Mount Pleasant, and an alum of NTCC, was invited to provide unbaked pottery for attendees to paint as they pleased. She then took the painted pottery back to her store to finish them in the baking kiln.

“I would love to do something like this regularly. This has been fabulous. Everyone has been so understanding and appreciative.”

This unique way to celebrate the season of love was a huge success with all of the pottery items painted within an hour into the event.

Students, faculty and community members gathered together to enjoy each other’s company alongside complimentary refreshments, music and festive knick-knacks put together by the SGA.

Minter said he was extremely pleased with the success of the event and the work of his SGA student team. “It was a marvelous event, and I could not have done it without the help of my ambassadors and my amazing student workers,” he said. “Bringing pottery was a nice addition to student life here at NTCC, and I can’t wait to add more unique ideas to student life at NTCC in the future.”
