‘Supernatural’ is a super good show

Growing up, children heard the stories and urban legends of the monsters that plagued the Earth. No one would see these monsters, unless they came for you. Children were told that the way to avoid the monster was to be a good child, follow the rules. Anything from staying out past dark to not eating your broccoli was grounds for a monster to take you away forever.

What if there were people out there, regular humans who stalked and killed these creatures. They called themselves hunters, hunting the best game of all. This is the main plot line of the CW hit TV show Supernatural.

Supernatural tells the story of Dean (Jensen Ackles) and his younger brother Sam (Jared Padalecki). The boys were raised to be hunters at a young age by their dad, together they are forced to forget normal lives to try and save as many humans as possible from creatures that want to kill everyone in sight. This show is not another teen romance show about a hero and a damsel in distress looking for excitement. Supernatural has humor, action and solid plot lines for every season and episode.

The first episode of Supernatural first aired in 2005 and now, in 2016, it is in its eleventh season and still going strong. Not only does the show feature monsters like ghosts and werewolves, it also plays on urban legends like Bloody Mary and Hook Man. Plus, the show deals with religious aspects like demons, angels, pagan gods, and other characters and ideas that have to do with religion.

Supernatural plot lines are not like those in other shows. These really make the viewer think. What would I do in this situation? Would I hunt knowing there are evil creatures in the world or would I turn a blind eye and live a normal life? Would I possibly get myself killed for people I don’t even know? These are the questions you find yourself asking after you watch the show.  There are also philosophical questions that you find yourself thinking about while watching.

Supernatural airs on the CW on Wednesday at 8 p.m. and episodes are posted on the CW website. Also Netflix has seasons 1 through 10 for anyone who is interested in starting at the beginning of the story. Supernatural is a great show that will have you on your toes the whole time you’re watching, make sure to check it out!
