Alpha Mu Chi holds their Mixer’s every Fall and Spring Semester to let new members meet with advisors, officers, and other members. On Thursday Sept. 14, Northeast Texas Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa Chapter, Alpha Mu Chi held its annual Fall Mixer, to orient students and cover the benefits of joining the international honor society. Chapter advisor, Melissa Fulgham, spoke to students about scholarship benefits that come from just being involved in the chapter level.

Chapter officer Tiler Hall expressed her enjoyment of working with her officer team for the 2016-2017 term, “out of the three years I have been in Alpha Mu Chi this is the best officer team I have seen, we are all so close to each other, it’s amazing,” said Hall. “This Mixer is just one example of what we can pull off just from working together.”

New members also had the chance to meet two of the Texas Regional officers, Jonas Arellano, Texas Regional President and Olivia Wynn, District III Vice President, both were in attendance. “This is a big deal for our chapter,” Hall said, “the only time we ever got to host Regional Officers were when we held the Regional Officer position, so to have Jonas and Olivia with us is definitely an honor.”

Alpha Mu Chi’s chapter officer team had everyone on their feet with games throughout the evening. One of the big moments of the night came after introductions when Alpha Mu Chi’s Vice President of Fundraising, Dylan McConnell and Regional Officer, Olivia Wynn had the chance to announce their recent honors as being chosen for the Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship for the 2016 year.
