Fall is just around the corner, and the Agricultural Department at Northeast is starting off the semester hitting the ground with a diverse selection of activities for everyone.  Upcoming, is the Women in the Outdoors event aimed particularly at women.

Director of Agriculture, Rene McCracken, plans to include numerous hands-on activities at the gals’ day out including archery, shotgunning, and blacksmithing while also incorporating less-strenuous events such as crafting, fly fishing, and dutch oven cooking.  Last year, the event was recognized as the best Women in the Outdoors event in Texas and the organization is confident they can make this year even better with even more participation.

The 18th Women in the Outdoors event is hosted by the Northeast Texas Chapter and will take place on September 24 at the Elizabeth Hoggatt Whatley Agricultural Complex.  Special discounted rates are available for college students enrolled at Northeast. McCracken encourages everyone to invite family and friends to the outing.  “We have the perfect escape for you,” said McCracken.  “Try something new and exciting in a setting that encourages comfort and fun outdoors.”  For more information or questions about the event contact Dorothy McCarver at 903-577-2674.
