After suffering from a loss of 3-0 to New York’s Monroe College in the first game of the National Championship, the Northeast Texas Community College Eagles soccer team battled on the field in search of a win on Nov. 20 against North Carolina’s Louisburg College.

Louisburg scored the first goal of the game. The Eagles’ team captain Jake Winship tied the game 1-1 with a goal off a penalty kick before the end of the first half. Going into the second half, Louisburg soon closed the tie with another point.

With 21 minutes left in the game, Eagles’ player Yannick Koffi scored and cut the deficit, 3-2. Unfortunately for the Eagles, Louisburg sealed a win with a goal in the last few seconds of the game, ending at 4-2.

The Eagles won a bid to NJCAA’s National Championship in Prescott, AZ when they defeated Pearl River Community College in the last round of the playoffs, 1-0.
