Lagniappe literary magazine calls for student submissions

The editors of Lagniappe magazine, NTCC’s literary publication, are soliciting artwork and writing pieces for the 2016 issue. Students can submit any work as long as it is their own original art, photograpy or writing pieces.

Students do not have to be art or creative writing majors to enter their work. Writing submissions can include both poetry and fiction and non-fiction prose. Artwork can be created with any type of medium and photography can be both digital mixed media or traditional photos.

“We have so many talented students on campus, and we want to encourage all of them to submit their work for possible publication in the next issue,” Journalism Professor Mandy Smith said.

The magazine, which is published annually, won five awards last year at the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association conference.

“We would like to see our magazine grow and include more students and departments on campus,” said Editor Teresa Flores. “Every year we look forward to publishing a new volume of Lagniappe. I always find it rewarding to create and to see the talent of fellow Northeast students is inspirational.”

Lagniappe is a joint project of Sigma Kappa Delta English Honor Society and the Journalism department.

Students can email their pieces to Smith at msmith@ntcc.edu or drop them off in the H 104.  For more information, call the Journalism department at 903-434-8232.
